Life can get a little crazy...

Well,  as of right now we are living in an overpriced rental home, while trying to build the guest house of our dream home. Why, you might ask, are we building the guest home first? Well, first of all we cannot really afford to build the big house yet, and second, we are not even close to ready. I cannot believe how many things you must pick out when you build your home yourself. It's so much more than decorating or even remodeling. I am working with a completely blank slate and everything from the roofing down to the type of door knob has to be picked out by moi! It's all very overwhelming. Add to that a down-and-out economy, a newborn, and homeschooling, you've got a mixture almost guaranteed to make one stressed out mama! I'm trying to enjoy the process though. I know it will all be over one day, and I will look back on this time and laugh. I'm also learning so much through the whole process, and we're not even close to done yet!
If you were wondering, the house will be in the Greek Revival style, and the interior will be modern classical. (That sounds a bit like an oxymoron to me.) My biggest challenge with the interior design is making sure that it all stays easy to clean and cozy without becoming country or rustic, which are styles I like, but are not styles that will become the exterior of the house. I do have to say, though, that this house has evolved so completely from my original vision that it's kind of  thrown me for a loop. It is so much better than the original vision, but I am constantly having to re-evaluate the work I had done before.
I have to give a lot of credit to my husband, though. He has really stepped up and shown me how creative he is. His vision has greatly influenced mine. Before this process he didn't really show any interest in design; interior or otherwise, but now he has really shown his creative side. I love it because it gives us a common interest, and makes the whole process more fun. I will be posting pictures as we go along. Especially once we get started in earnest. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

My inspirations!

My sweet middle girl holding her new baby sister.

My beautiful oldest and new youngest.

Some of the artwork I made for my new little one. I had so much fun preparing for her.
My little angel at about 3 days old.

Me and my little sweetie at 3 weeks old. This photo was taken by Rothrock Photography. She did our newborn pics (a little late because my husband had strep for the whole 2nd week of Lilly's life~ but that's another story), and did a fantastic job!
